Ron English’s characters once lived in a world of strictly two dimensions. In 2005 English decided to bring his characters to life by creating designer toy versions of his iconic creatures and has been producing various characters in multiple color variants ever since. Join us as we dive into the history of 3D POPaganda and learn what year your favorite toy came out, who it was produced by, and all about its exclusivity!

It all started with Ronnnie Rabbbit. With three eyes and ears, two cute noses, and two mouths, his presence remains an adorable companion for years to come. This 9" durable soft vinyl rabbbit was produced by Dark Horse and was originally sold in a full-color window box featuring original Ron English art inside and out! Only two different colorways were produced, the original, and a blue GID version.

MC Supersized was English's hijacking of a popular fast food restaurant's mascot. Since then, MC Supersized has become one of Ron's most iconic images, having been featured in his paintings, posted on billboards and used in the hit documentary "Supersize Me". The notorious fast food character was produced in a mere 3 colorways, each limited to 100 pieces, by Toy Tokyo in 2005.

Next came Big Yang and The Yang Bangers, originally released in March of 2006.  This piece stands 7" tall and comes in 3 pieces, connected by a small chain. Produced by Gums Production, Big Yang and The Yang Bangers were released in multiple different color variants but were each limited to 500 pieces per color.

This 10" Three Eyed Santa olive wood carving was made in Palestine in December 2007 by a local master carver based on a sketch drawn by Ron while he was in Palestine participating in Banksy's Santa's Ghetto Pop Up event. There were 12 made, and this one comes from Ron's personal collection.

Imagine all desires wrapped into one: food, sex, mother's milk... Cathy Cowgirl is the ultimate object of desire. In 2007 English teamed up with STRANGEco to produce one of his most controversial characters "Cathy Cowgirl" in three dimensions. All-in-all Cathy Cowgirl was released in 3 separate colorways each featuring a 10" resin Cathy standing on a faux wood base cut in the shape of the lone star state!

This 10" Be@rbrick was produced in conjunction with Medicom Toys back in 2007. This was Ron's very first Be@rbrick and was produced 10" tall and a smaller version was released as well.

Ron English's second kidrobot dunny was the 8" X Ray GID Dunny. The figures sold out within 2 hours at the kidrobot store in Miami during Art Basel 2008.

 In 2008 Ron was invited to participated in the Disney x MINDstyle "Stitch Artist Series". Ron had two pieces in the series, a black stitch featuring a skeleton (pictured to the left) and a rainbow stitch featuring English's "Grin".

 In 2008, the very first MC Supersized Keychains were released. Since then they continue to be released in different color versions.

 Next came Ron's Bunnny Rabbbits. These 10-inch tall figures are cast in vinyl and have painted eyes, ears, noses, and nipples. Featuring one point of articulation at the neck, these were vinyl toys produced by POPaganda, in 2008.

In 2009 Garageworks Industries created three of Ron's characters 4' tall for his Status Factory Exhibition. Characters include Mousemask Murphy, Charlie Grin (3 different colors), and the Telegrinnies (one of each color). MINDstyle was responsible for producing the 4ft MC Supersized.

Next for Ron was his amazing Marilyn Mickeys fiberglass busts. These were released in 3 colorways at an edition size of 30 per. Produced by Made by Monsters/Garageworks these 20" busts made their debut as a sculpt at Ron's solo show in 2010 but were made available for retail in fiberglass through Opera Gallery and Made by Monsters a year later.

Following a number of successful releases in the past Ron continues with the Hong Kong based toy company, Made by Monsters. Lucy Exposed comes in at 8 inches and was originally released on December 21st, 2009 with a limited run of 300 pieces only. One other colorway was released at a later date.

Following the Charlie Brown theme Ron releases Charlie “Grin,” produced by Made by Monsters. This 7 inch vinyl figure was released on January 13th, 2009 at a private art show and toy release party at Garageworks Gallery in Hong Kong. After that the figure was made available in stores worldwide.

Ron English’s highly anticipated POPaganda mini figure series were pre-released at SDCC 2009. Ron did a signing during the pre-release at Toy Tokyo’s booth, as a limited amount were flown in to greet fans in attendance before launch in late August. The series features many of Ron's recognizable characters including Mini Bunnny Rabbbit, Mini Ronnnie Rabbbit, Screamin' Seeman, Poobah the Love Puppy, Orion the Obese Alien, Mouse Mask Murphy, Grinnin Gaylord, Jewsus, Li'l Yang Banger and Cassie Cowgirl.

 SDCC 2009 saw Ben Banger for the very first time, manufactured by ThreeZero this piece never actually went into production. Limited to a mere 6 pieces, Ben Banger brought Ron’s long-running KISS inspired art to 3D life in cruisin’ style as another one of Toy Tokyo's exclusive comic con releases.

 Ron English’s re-appropriation of American president Barack Obama under the influence of Abraham Lincoln saw light in 3D form in 2009. Originally seen as a series of large posters created as a commentary regarding Obama as the fruition of the political promise begun by Lincoln, the pieces quickly become a much talked about art venture. The busts done by MINDstyle and sculpted by Vin Teng are seen here in three colors, each limited to 44 pieces worldwide. Additionally three other colorways were done including red white and blue, gold and bronze.

Ron English and Made by Monsters created the “Smiley Grin” piggy back as part of a further product roll-out for English’s recent Status Factory exhibition . The 4 inch vinyl piggy bank features a similar aesthetic to some previous Ron English and Made by Monsters offerings. Since 2010 the Smiley Grin bank has been released in other colorways (Black, Purple, Gold, Silver, Pink, Blue)

A homage to the spirit of Andy Warhol, Figment refers to Warhol's own thoughts about how his tombstone should read: "no epitaph, no name - actually, I'd like it to say 'figment'". Produced by POPaganda, each of the 5 colorways were limited to 100 pieces. Each Figment bust measures 13.5 inches tall and 10 inches wide.

 MINDstyle x Disney x Ron English created a classic figure for the 2011 Mad Hatter Project based of the classic Disney Film "Alice in Wonderland".  2012 saw the release of POPaganda's Temper Tot, an 8" tall figure based on English's "The Incredulous HulkBoy" piece for the "Status Factory" Show. The Temper Tot was released in 4 colorways (OG, Pink/Turquoise, Monotone, Metallic) The only thing worse than a toddler with a tantrum is a very STRONG one!

UK based toy company, DUDEBOX, presents King Monster, Ron English's take on their platform toy. King Monster was released on 11th October 2012 at New York Comic Con and online.

 In 2012 POPaganda began releasing figures under the "Cereal Killers" Series. 100% Nutrition-Free, This Sugar Frosted Fat Tony is a ton of Tiger with a short shelf life! After the original colorway Fat Tony was eventually released in 5 limited edition colorways (fluorescent, antique, pink, gold, turquoise)

The MakerBot crew was at SDCC 2012 demonstrating their latest and greatest, MakerBot Replicator. With the help of Dave Bondi they used the machine to transform Ron English's Cereal Killer Franken Fat, into a 3D figure. Many wondered if Franken Fat would be next in the Cereal Killer Series, but only time would tell.

After appearing on an episode of The Simpsons, Ron teamed up with Matt Groening to bring you The Bart Grin. This 10" tall figure was produced by Made By Monsters and has been released in multiple different colorways.

Toy Tokyo and Ron English teamed up in 2013 to create 3 different colorways of "Supersize Me Bootleg Toys". Each of these figures stand 3.5" tall and  were released in limited editions throughout 3 different colorways.

When SLASH, arguably the world’s greatest guitar player, embarked on a solo career with his album SLASH & Friends, collaborations with his favorite singers, he asked artist Ron English to collaborate with him on the cover. Ron interpreted SLASH’s iconic skull with a top hat using Ron's unique glowing color technique in a boudoir atmosphere complete with guitar/derriere crossbones. In response to the popularity of the album artwork Ron English and SLASH worked together to create a limited edition fiberglass bust of the now iconic image. In collaboration with Garage Works, the ENGLISH x SLASH bust was released in 2013 limited to a run of 10 pieces, each signed and numbered by Ron English and SLASH.

The Heart Skull made its 3D debut at the opening reception of this show. There were several one-of-a-kind versions of the Heart Skull included in the show along with two separate colored editions released (mint&purple).

This 4.5" tall, 4.5" wide, 2.5" wide sculpture of Ron English's Heart Brain design was rotocast in resin and was originally released at his Thought Factory show. Pictured to the right are two pieces from the large edition produced, but there were also many one-off versions created for the show.

Meanwhile, Ron was still working on producing his "Cereal Killers" Series. Next up is Captain Cornstarch! Aside from the original colorway, Cap'n was produced in FOUR limited edition colorways (metallic, pink, black and GID) This was not the last "Cereal Killers" toy to be released in 2013.
