Last Saturday saw the opening of Ron English’s ‘Sugar High‘, at Dorothy Circus Gallery in Rome. Dorothy Circus is one of the most established and respected galleries of the Pop Surrealist Movement and is run by the visionary Alexandra Mazzanti.
‘Sugar High’ examines a long-running theme in Ron’s work, exploring the manipulations of advertising and its damaging effects on our bodies and culture.
Below is a look back at the sweetness that was the ‘Sugar High’ opening reception.
All who were in attendance made sure they brought their sweet tooth. The usual art gallery refreshments were no match for the sugary selection that Dorothy Circus provided. A smorgasbord filled with sweet, sour and sugary candy, cereal, poptarts and more were served to the attendees. Talk about sugar high!
Sugary snacks weren’t the only treat the attendees received that night. Ron English was at the opening signing the show posters!
Thank you to Alexandra Mazzanti, Dorothy Circus Gallery and all who joined us for the opening reception of ‘Sugar High’!
