Ron English’s first solo show at Dorothy Circus Gallery opens Feb 20 in Rome. One of the most established and respected galleries of the Pop Surrealist Movement, Dorothy Circus is run by the visionary Alexandra Mazzanti.
“Sugar High” examines a long-running theme in Ron’s work, exploring the manipulations of advertising and its damaging effects on our bodies and culture.
Many of English’s iconic characters are represented, from MC Supersized, a corporate mascot who actually eats the food he shills, to Cereal Killer mascots and an insidious Uncle Scam.
